Communication in Minimally Verbal Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders: What do we know regarding assessment and intervention?

The main goal of this presentation is to discuss the strengths and challenges of minimally verbal children with autism spectrum disorder, and to describe different aspects of service delivery including coaching paraprofessionals and educators, collaborating with behavioral therapists, describing methods for communication assessment and intervention. Case-based scenarios will be used for discussions.

Social Language Skills Training within Schools - A Collaboration Enhancing Approach

This presentation explores five critical steps to encourage successful collaboration within school settings. It provides an applied example in the area of social communication. The objective is to have participants leave this seminar inspired by ideas and strategies to incorporate into their collaborative model’s; specifically in the area of social communication.

The Conversation Cottage model will be presented as an applied method of assessment and awareness for both the clinician and the client. It provides a “Conversational Blueprint” that the attendees can reference as they set out to more efficiently understand how to effectively teach their children how to become adept conversationalists - to the best of their ability.
